Merry Christmas: A development gift for you

Published December 25, 2006 by Robert Sandie in Announcements

Check out some machinima by Michelle of Scrooge 2 and a ghost story, Snow Witch.

Or a Christmas mistake by the 3 little piggies.

Or a Christmas greeting from the Ghiurau family.

Or even that classic Christmas light video to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra

All without leaving the page!

We wrote some shiny new JavaScript to do this. It gives you the ability to bring together multiple videos in one post on your blog, and you can even link to specific moments in a video through HTML (click links above and check out our Learn More section to view examples).

Instructions
If you can put JavaScript in the page, you can do it too…

Embed some javascript into your header:

Embed the Flash code (to find on any video hit the plus bar and hit share):

Switch the video with Javascript calls:

Scrooge 2

NOTE: When copying this from page please replace the apostrophes as they copy weird: Fix is coming soon.

Syntax (with relationship to javascript call above):

  • ‘viddler2′ is unique to the Flash Embed. Please note that the id and name in the Flash embed must correspond with the javascript.
  • ‘michelle’ is the username’s video
  • 3 is the video ID that you can find in the URL
  • 30 is the start time
  • Scrooge 2 is the linkable text that will be displayed.

This is just a glimpse to what we will be offering in our Developer Zone. If you use, be sure to show off your work in the comments below.

Merry Christmas!

Let me ask this: Is there a better way to announce a webcam upgrade then with a webcam?
