Rob Sandie (sandieman) recently stopped by The Chestnut Hill Coffee Company and did an interview with its founder John Hornall. Rob was thoroughly impressed with the place because while he was there he sent me an IM “You have to check this place out!”. Rob was able to get a thorough tour of the place, as well as interview John about his and the shop’s history. Take a look at the video:
Rob isn’t alone in his love of this place. Accolades for The Chestnut Hill Coffee Company have poured in from all over. Read some of this from a review by Bill the self proclaimed “dedicated coffee fanatic”.
The decor and environment struck me as extremely creative. There were two floors (rare) with a variety of ample seating. I think they were even voted Best of Philly Magazine for child-friendly space.
The coffee was really good. Very smooth and full-flavored. It seemed they only had a limited offering of coffees (I didn’t see anything else), though I’m pretty sure they roast their own and have more. They also seemed to focus on blends instead of single-origin, but I think they actually know what they’re doing when they blend…
The espresso was well-done and very tasty. The barista who did it (I think it was John Hornall) was definitely trained in the ways of good technique and timing.
“This is probably my favorite coffee shop I have ever been to. Not only do they have great drinks and make coffee experience feel like you were drinking a a $30 glass of wine but they have free wi-fi! If you live in the Philadelphia area, it’s a must see!” — (on Arizona Coffee)
Coming from someone that pretty much ownsthe coffee tag here on Viddler, I’d say that is high praise indeed. I can’t wait to visit The Chestnut Hill Coffee Company the next time I’m in Philadelphia.
Yes we’re still catching up on our videos and notes from SXSW and I can not believe we didn’t mention this one on our blog yet!
Will Wright gave his keynote, even though he had just sustained an injury to his arm while skiing, so we appreciate his efforts since his keynote was by far my most favorite of any I’d seen at South by Southwest. He also demoed SPORE, his latest yet unreleased game, even though he didn’t plan on doing so.
Viddler user Anton Peck (anton) has six episodes of his artcast on Viddler. All of them worth watching but I decided to feature episode five “Coloring Lineart” simply because it is my personal favorite.
Be sure to watch all of Anton’s Artcast episodes, there is no doubt that you’ll learn something. Thanks for uploading them to Viddler Anton.
Viddler user jachipman shares his experience of hang gliding in Sylmar, Calornia with us in Winter Clouds. I’ll let Rob’s inline comments speak for me too, check it out.
What a great video! The fly by is particularly cool, and a little crazy.
Just a quick note to let all of you know that we’ve made a few small changes to our blog. The most notable change would be that we’ve added photos from our Viddler Flickr Group so you can now promote your videos on Viddler by using your Flickr account! To learn more, read the announcement entry and watch this video.
Another small update that we’ve made is that we’ve added a blog only search. In the sidebar of each page of our blog you can now search our blog entries. And last but not least we’ve integrated Twitter into our blog by showing the current status for my account and Rob’s too. We’ll be adding more as more Viddler staff gets their Twitter accounts setup.
Even though these are small updates we thought they’d help you to promote your videos, help you find the content you’re looking for more quickly, and have a little fun knowing what we’re up to.
Thanks for using Viddler and subscribing to our blog and look for much more to come in the near future.
The panel was moderated by Eddie Codel of Geek Entertainment TV and the panelists included Micki Krimmel of Revver, Kent Nichols of Ask a Ninja, Scott Watson of Walt Disney R&D, and Kevin Rose of Digg. Be sure to check it out and all of their shows/services. Thanks for a great panel guys.
Several others have followed suit including myself, Josue, our cat Pooks, Lisa, and Chris. Are you going to reply? Tag your video with 5things… and I’ll update this post with all of the videos that get submitted.
Keep them coming! (the contents of this post will change when I update it)
Viddler user Lea Alcantara (lealea) was also in South by Southwest this past week and got a chance to watch The Opus Flux perform at The Wave in Austin, Texas.
We appreciate her coverage since Rob and I weren’t able to be there. There was so much going on at SXSW that it was impossible for us to capture it all.
If you were at SXSW and you have video of the events that you attended, please share it with all of us and especially with those that were unable to attend.
I’ve been a fan of Loren, and all of 1938media, for a long time so I can definitely recommend checking out his company’s site and browsing around at everything they have to offer. Thanks for the review Loren, and thanks for becoming a Viddler user!
