Indiana Jones and the Lego Ball

Published May 31, 2008 by Brandice in Featured

Kontraband (friend: mcmentalninja) has a really great video recreating a classic Indiana Jones scene with a giant lego ball (made from 1,000,000 legos!). Who needs the new movie when you watch this crazy reenactment?

The end of the video is classic as well. I wonder if they had the same problem with the giant boulder in the real Indiana Jones movie…

Group of the Day: Whatcha Listening To?day

Published May 30, 2008 by Brandice in Community Spotlight

There’s a really great Viddler group that just caught my eye that was created by TeeGee and gives viewers a chance to share the last five songs they’ve listened to in iTunes (or any other music player): Whatcha Listening To?day

This is a really great idea, and something that I plan on jumping into as soon as I have a break from wedding planning. I’ve already seen some great recommendations for music and I really like to see what other people are listening to. Hop over and join the group and let’s share some music!

Two Guys on Beer - Apricots, Agave, and Hens

Published May 30, 2008 by Brandice in Featured

Two Guys on Beer (friend: tgob) is weekly beer show hosted by Johnny Bilotta and David Martoran that’s been around for almost ten episodes and seems to be very recently gaining some momentum. I was pointed to this most recent episode of the show at least three times on Twitter yesterday, because people are loving the show.

This is my first full viewing and I really enjoyed this episode, both as a beer drinker (one who is very intrigued by the second beer reviewed in this episode) and someone who appreciates a well executed video podcast involving food and/or drink reviews. These guys are doing a great job.

(I also discovered that it’s really funny to make Johnny laugh.)

If you enjoy Two Guys on Beer, don’t forget to jump over to their profile and hit the “Subscribe” button.

Felicitea’s CTC Contest

Published May 29, 2008 by Brandice in Community Spotlight

Summer, custom tea blender of Felicitea (friend: Felicitea), is currently looking for tea-drinking contestants for Phase One of her Coffee to Tea Convert Contest. All you have to do is create a video about why you drink tea instead of coffee, and then add the video to the Felicitea’s CTC Contest group. Phase Two of the contest will involve converting a lucky coffee drinker with lots of tea-related prizes!

The winner with the best tea video will have their video used to promote tea drinking for Phase Two of the contest, they will get free tea, and they will also get a special piece of free personalized teaware, so hop over to the group and submit your video. Tea is always a good reason to make a video!

BeetTV Interview - Rev3’s Jim Louderback

Published May 29, 2008 by Brandice in Featured

BeetTV (friend: BeetTV) recently had a great interview with Jim Louderback, the CEO of Revision3. Jim talks about Revision3 shows being available on other sites like CNET (and Viddler, if you haven’t noticed!) and the fact that people are not only watching online content, but they’re even watching long form content on mobile devices. There is also some great discussion of Rev3’s sponsorship and ad model.

Really great interview, and if you’d like to subscribe to BeetTV’s content on an ongoing basis, don’t forget to go to their profile and click “Subscribe.”

User Feature: Cereal Wednesdays

Published May 28, 2008 by Brandice in Community Spotlight

As Viddler’s Community Leader, I can often be found sitting on the couch these days watching Viddler content at all hours. My fiance usually finds another room in the apartment to watch sports or uses those hours to go out riding his Harley.

This is the first time I have ever seen the man find ways to secretly listen to a video. The entire time I was watching this episode of Cereal Wednesday, Jim was mysteriously hovering in the vicinity, pretending not to listen but secretly drawn in by this Fruity Cheerios review.

I had to pause the video at one point and he couldn’t help but cry out, “HEY! I want to see if it really has 25% less sugar!” before catching himself.

SO BUSTED.

Thanks to Cereal Wednesdays for providing content that even my anti-internet, macho future husband can’t resist. ;)

(You can subscribe to Cereal Wednesday in the user profile.)

Peanut Pete - “Gettin’ Out”

Published May 28, 2008 by Brandice in Featured

Have you met Peanut Pete? Seems he’s getting out of the slammer soon and he’s daydreaming about all the antics to come (sort of looks like he might end up headed back to the slammer if he’s not careful).

Really cool animation video from Box Productions. I’m looking forward to wayward Pete’s post-incarceration adventures in future videos, and if you want a heads up when they’re available for viewing, don’t forget to head over to Peanut Pete’s profile and click the “Subscribe” button.

Lijit adds support for Viddler!

Published May 27, 2008 by Colin Devroe in Announcements

Your activity on the Web, whether you’re publishing videos, photos, and blog posts, or just reading them - is like carving out your very own “corner of the Web”.

If you could create a list of all of your web sites, social networks, and even your friend’s web sites - you could create a really neat search engine of stuff you recommend. With Lijit, you can do just that.

Lets go one step further with this example. Lets say you write about your vacations on your blog, you upload video to Viddler, and you publish your photos to Flickr. Wouldn’t it be really neat if, from your own Web site, people could search all of that information? With Lijit, you can do just that.

You might be saying: “Wait a minute, I’ve seen sites like this, and they all take so long to setup.” You might want to give Lijit a try because within about 3 minutes of loading their front page I had my own search on my site, and so did Rob Sandie. Their sign up process is rather genius. Their widget creation tool, simple and easy. We think they have it all going on.

Give Lijit a try and let people search your Viddler videos right from your site!

Thanks to the Lijit team for adding support for Viddler in one of their latest releases.

5 Things to Do When Twitter’s Down

Published May 27, 2008 by Brandice in Community Spotlight, Featured

I tried really hard throughout my viewing of this particular iJustine video to deny that I’ve done any of these five things, but then Twitter went down while I was working on this very write-up, and the next thing I knew, my imaginary friend was stuffing my baked arm cake into a suitcase while humming songs about Hannah Montana and watching me bang my head against the wall.

Justine speaks the truth. Twitter must stay up and running so that we don’t use our ovens to make arm cakes.

So you’ve (hopefully) had a long weekend to relax and enjoy time with family and friends, but now Tuesday is hitting you just as hard as a normal Monday would, if not harder.
