Interview with David Karp of Tumblr

Posted in Featured by Brandice on June 30, 2008

Sarah at pop17 recently scored an interview with David Karp of Tumblr, which is pretty popular for simple, easily customized blogging. One thing I wasn’t aware of in terms of Tumblr features is the re-blogging feature (pretty cool), which is explained in the interview.

If you enjoy Pop17’s interviews, don’t forget to hit their profile and click the “Subscribe” button!

To circumcise, or not to circumcise?

Posted in Featured by Brandice on June 29, 2008

Owen of DadLabs recently had what might be one of the last conversations I would picture the typical dad having with his mother… the debate about whether or not to make that little snip when your son is born. In this case, however, his mom is a pediatrician, so her opinion holds more than just the weight of a concerned mom. She makes some interesting points, and I’ve never really given a whole lot of thought to the issue.

What do you think? Why have you or haven’t you circumcised your own little ones? Put your thoughts in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe to DadLabs if you like what you see.

Rocketboom talks snail mail and space

Posted in Featured by Brandice on June 28, 2008

Attention astronomy enthusiasts and snail lovers! Have you been watching Rocketboom this week?

Monday’s episode of Rocketboom caught my attention straight off with a story about possible water on Mars and some humorous suggestions as to other possibilities for explaining the interesting photos coming from all that gadgetry we’ve got up in space watching said planet. As someone who’s still sad about Pluto’s demotion as a planet, I was also very interested in what’s going to happen with the “Planet Debate” mentioned, where it seems several angry scientists are going to get together to further argue about Pluto’s classification.

If you’re not into space-related matters, there’s some humorous mention of the “red paper clip” guy, as well as that guy who dances all around the world, and it seems some scientists have decided to take the term “snail mail” quite literally!

Zombie Shuffle in Melbourne

Posted in Friday fun, Community Spotlight by Brandice on June 27, 2008

Check out this totally impressive mob of zombies that took over Melbourne, Australia this June… I didn’t know zombies were this organized and some of them are really gross looking. There’s a photo album from the day here.

I think from all the shouting that they wanted… brains? ;)

PopSiren and the severed head

Posted in Featured by Brandice on June 27, 2008

This has to be the creepiest history lesson I’ve received in quite a while. PopSiren’s Moujan Z gives us a crash course on Jeremy Bentham’s preserved body and severed head, kept at University College London.

What’s even creepier (and somewhat hilarious) is that the severed head was used for college pranks. I may have done some seriously crazy things in college, but relocating a severed head is not one of the things on my list of college antics.

As always, if you like what you see from PopSiren, remember to hit up their profile and click the magically delicious “Subscribe” button. The five millionth person to click that blue button will receive a severed head in the mail… maybe.

Angelina Jolie in “Wanted”

Posted in Featured by Brandice on June 26, 2008

Summer blockbuster season must be going full force, because I am catching wind of a lot of movies that I would actually pay $8.50 to see at the cinema these days (I’m sure you can tell by all the exciting movie interviews we’re seeing here at Viddler lately). This upcoming flick is no exception.

RealTVfilms has a great interview with Angelina Jolie about her upcoming movie, Wanted, which is coming out this Friday. Angelina has a lot to say about working with James McAvoy (hunk!) and Morgan Freeman, and I like that she’ll admit she is sometimes just really in the mood for making a good action flick.

With all the options these days, what movie are YOU going to see this Friday? Leave your movie choice in the comments!

Vegas Premiere of “Get Smart”

Posted in Featured by Brandice on June 25, 2008

iJustine headed out to the Vegas premiere of Get Smart recently for IGotShotGun (friend: igotshotgun) and not only got a great interview and autograph from Dwayne Johnson (formerly well known as The Rock) but also gave him a very special autographed picture of her own. Classic Justine!

ScamSchool NYC Magic Show

Posted in Featured by Brandice on June 24, 2008

Brian Brushwood of Scam School recently opened up for the live Diggnation show in New York City and provided some amazing pre-Diggnation entertainment, including fire eating and nails to various facial cavities. Between Brian and a very feisty audience, this was clearly a great opener for Diggnation’s live NYC event.
