Norwegian Cruise Lines around the North-Eastern United States and up to Canada in order to expose the great techniques businesses are using to bring in customers from the cruise liner.

From the companies that have stores on the ship to the businesses at the ports that hibernate in the winter. There’s all kinds of knowledge to gain from this special edition show.

Check out more of Andrew’s entertaining business tips at his website.

Have you seen a business that works in a unique way? Or did you recently take a cruise somewhere radical? Let me know about your stories by sending me a message or leaving a comment on this post.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Published November 29, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was released last week!

I’m sure you or your best friend had at least one version of Street Fighter on Nintendo when you were young. Capcom has released the remake of Street Fighter II Turbo for download from the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade. (Of course, if you want to go down to your nearest electronic retailer and pick it up there, you can do that too.) The coolest thing is that you can now play it with anyone in the world with your console’s broadband connectivity. Game on!

In this video Joystiq (article) shows the trailer and what you’ll expect to see during game play in the new Street Fighter.

The graphics look just the way they did in the classic arcade game, but now they’re much clearer in high definition than when you played it on your pricey 30-inch CRT all those years ago.

Would you like to suggest a feature video? Perhaps of your favorite video game? Send me a message or leave a comment below.

Penchant is early to the stores!

Published November 28, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

Penchant Lama (subscribe) was up early this morning to get some great Black Friday deals at Target. He’s going to score some good deals on a lot of items there. He even finds a big horse to ride. Giddy up!

Aww. It’s a shame Penchant couldn’t get everything he wanted! That horse would have been a lot of fun to ride around with Penchant’s cape flapping in the wind. Oh well, at least it looks like he has a good list of items to put on his Christmas list now.

Happy Black Friday

Do you have a Black Friday success/disaster story? Be sure to let me know about it. It might just be the featured video we’ve been looking for.

If you’re not from these parts…

Published November 27, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

If you’re like me — a foreigner — then you’ll probably be new to the whole concept of Thanksgiving.

What is it? Who are we thanking? Do we have to give presents? Thankfully (Ah. I love a good pun), we have Wikipedia and The JetSet Cast for that.

No doubt, you’re busy preparing for some kind of Thanksgiving family event today. I hope everyone has a fabulous day with their loved ones, and extended-we-haven’t-seen-each-other-in-a-while-awkward-conversation-loved-ones. ;)

Although, if Mother Nature decides not to be kind in your part of the planet today, and you get stuck at home. Turkey-less. Rest assure, Mahalo Daily (subscribe) will show you how to cook that bird in no time. That is, once you get out of your warm pajamas and trot down to the store to purchase one. Or maybe you’ve already hunted one in the woods.

Which ever way you obtained your turkey, here’s how to make it edible.

If you’re also like me and don’t enjoy turkey, then at least have fun frolicking around on your day(s) off. You probably have a few Viddler videos to catch up on.

Hey, if you find any giddy Viddler gems, let me know about them and I may just feature some on The Viddler Blog.

Oh. Hey.. pal..

Published November 26, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

Rhett and Link are a very clever musical-web-comedy-duo from Lillington, North Carolina. They have been creating video content online since 2000, and now have almost 200 music videos, films, live recordings, and sketches scattered all across the web.

One of their recent series is the Surrogate Sharers. Fans and viewers can send embarrassing experiences to Rhett and Link, and they will create a video you can send to a friend/acquaintance that you’d be too embarrassed to speak to directly.

I know I’ve certainly forgot peoples’ names even after I’ve met them a bunch of times. Alas, this is to all those people whom I call ‘buddy’, ‘pal’, and ‘dude’.

Oh boy. Those guys are a bunch of fun! Be sure to check out the rest of their videos.

Be sure to look out for an interview with Rhett and Link on The Viddler Blog next week. Yeehaa!

Do you have a fun series you’d like to get some recognition on Viddler? Send me a message or leave a comment on this post to let me know.

Thanksgiving Ideas

Published November 25, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

Thanksgiving is in a couple of days. Have you thought about what you’re going to do with your family? Obviously you’ll have a large turkey to feast on, but what about food that compliments that? What about some games and trivia? Have you thought about what flavor stuffing you’re going to make?

Of course you could browse Google for hours searching for some creative recipes and activities, but why spend all that time on the internet when you could be starting your Thanksgiving creations?

Jason from The JetSet Cast (subscribe) has done all the work for you! He’s a nice guy like that. In episode 4 of the JetSetCast, Jason has several great websites that will help you make this Thanksgiving the best one ever. Gobble gobble.

Is there anything you typically do to prepare for Thanksgiving? Send me a message about it and you could get featured on Viddler for Thanksgiving Day!

A better looking Simple Player

Published November 24, 2008 by Colin Devroe in Announcements

When we launched our new player that allows you to customize the colors, add your logo, and link back to your site - only some of these features were made immediately available in our Simple Player.

Although we’re a little late to announce this, we’re proud to let you know that the same customizations that you’ve made to our full, or normal, player are now showing up in the Simple Player as well.

As you can see in the above example, a recent blind tasting by Gary Vaynerchuk on Wine Library TV, the same colors and logo are now showing up on the Simple Player.

Sorry for being slow to announce this but we hope that those of you that want to use our Simple Player are now enjoying it even more than before.

Make a Monster

Published November 24, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

Nintendo’s Wii video game console is well-known for its fun, low-detail-graphic, high-physical-movement games. Almost everyone wants or has a Wii. Microsoft noticed this and released the New Xbox Experience (NXE) last week. The NXE gives Xbox owners the ability to create avatars just like you’ve been able to do on the Wii since it was launched.

GameZombie (subscribe) has a review of the recently released Monster Lab — an entertaining game aimed towards, but not limited to, kids. The player is placed in the role of a mad scientist that is constantly collecting crazy parts and tools in the aim of creating the perfect monster. Once your monster is built you send it out in to battle battle in the wild. This is well produced game that is the perfect gift for a kid with a Wii this holiday season.

Those monsters definitely look like some fun to create! The attention to detail is great! If you’re worn out from the Wii Fit, sit back down on the couch and start creating some monsters in Monster Lab.

If you have a game review (it could even be a board game) that you’d like featured on The Viddler Blog, then send me a message or leave a comment on this post about it. Woo!

Street View on the iPhone

Published November 23, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

Apple’s iPhone never ceases to amaze. It brings the future to the now and we take it like candy from a… guy in a black turtle neck.

iPhone software update 2.2 was released on Friday night, and users didn’t hold back; downloading it in seconds after reading tweets about it. The two most exciting new features were Street View in the Google Maps application and podcast downloads over Wi-Fi & cellular network.

Bart (wiibart) has some fantastic footage of the Street View feature. He used the macro feature on his camera to get really close to his iPhone and make you feel like you’re almost in the iPhone.

Do you have a cool feature to show off on your iPhone? Or maybe you have a Blackberry that does something to envy the iPhone. Show me! Show me! Send me a message or leave a comment about it on this post.

Music in 4:3

Published November 23, 2008 by djsteen in Featured

New Viddlerer, Ryan, brings us his first video in lo-fi black and white.

He filmed this with a PXL 2000.

The Fisher-Price PXL2000 (also known as the PixelVision by Fisher-Price, and the KiddieCorder by some of its fans) was a toy black-and-white camcorder produced in 1987 that used an ordinary compact audio cassette as its recording medium.

Yes, an audio cassette! This video comes from a magnetic tape that was commonly used for recording and playing various forms of audio. That all changed with MP3 players. Now, we can record video on our MP3 players.

This is one of the rare times when interlacing artifacts in an online video actually look good on the video.

This is truly a piece of art; the music goes perfect with the motion picture. I’d really love to create something like this in the near future. If you have some creative video to show to the Viddler community, just send me a message or leave a comment on this post.
