Are You ‘Hair & Makeup Ready’?

Published January 31, 2009 by djsteen in Community Spotlight, Featured

I’ve been in the entertainment industry since I was born, and I know how to be prepared for an audition, photoshoot, etc.

Modeling? Sure, I’ve done that. But what if you’ve just decided to start career of modeling. You’d probably need to start off with an agent. That requires professional photos. Bam! Do you need to be hair & makeup ready for your photoshoot?

Explore Modeling (subscribe) is a free resource for models — new and experienced — to obtain honest, reliable, and useful information, and tools that models can use in establishing their own careers in modeling.

Cristina DeHart, the site host and a full-time professional model, breaks down the basics of modeling and talks about her own career and modeling experiences.

Check out the video below to find out how and when to be hair & makeup ready.

Do you have an immense amount of knowledge about a particular industry? There’s most likely a niche market for you to create how-to videos in. If you have some, link me up by sending me a message, and I’ll share them with the planet.

Christina’s Exhausted!

Published January 30, 2009 by djsteen in Featured

What did you do today? That’s the simple (well, sometimes we need lists to remember) question that the MeToday Group asks. If you use Twitter regularly, you can just look back to what you were doing and make a short video about that.

I highly recommend making MeTodays regularly because it’s a nice documentation of your life over a period of time. A 365days photo tells a thousand words. A MeToday video tells billions. Literally; I did MeTodays every single day for a year, and it’s so much fun to watch them back.

Of course, I still do MeTodays ‘when I get the time’. That’s such a lame excuse. It’s so simple to use the Viddler Recorder to record quick video about your day. Go on. Give it a try! I’ll be making one today and adding it to the group.

Here’s Christina’s (subscribe) MeToday uploaded last night. She sure is a busy bee in school! Ahh, those were the fun days! :)

If you make a MeToday, please link it up in the comments below. We’d love to see them!

Corey’s Quick iLife ‘09 Review

Published January 29, 2009 by djsteen in Featured

Finally, that one more thing mentioned at Apple’s keynote for MacWorld has been released. Yes, iLife ‘09 is in many Mac users’ hot little hands, and they’re loving it!

iLife ‘09 is the latest edition of Apple’s bundle of software that includes applictions for creating videos (iMovie), organizing photo (iPhoto), making music (Garageband), designing websites (iWeb), and burning all that amazing content to a disc (iDVD).

Prolific video blogger and hardcore geek, Corey (subscribe), has a brief review of the applications that most excite him in iLife ‘09. He even suggests that you use an Eye-Fi Explore SD card in your digital camera from now on because it will compliment iPhotos geotagging feature very well. Thanks Corey!

If you’d like to know more about the products mentioned in Corey’s review, check the description on his video page.

The Viddler Blog is always looking for great user generated content to share with the world. So, if you’ve been holding off on contacting me about your video, hold no longer and send me a message about it.

And if any of you Windows and Linux viewers out there have any product reviews, you can send those in too! We’re not biased to Mac OS X. ;)

The Making of HOTD

Published January 28, 2009 by djsteen in Featured

NintendoNow (subscribe) just launched a video of the Making of House of the Dead: Overkill.

House of the Dead: Overkill is a video game for the Nintendo Wii that has an M rating for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, and Strong Language. It’s due to release on February 10th, 2009.

It was developed by Headstrong Games for Sega and serves as a prequel to the House of the Dead series (based on the film).

I don’t know about anyone else, but I haven’t seen a violent game on the Wii before. Most of the games advertised involve exercise or children/teen games. So, I’m sure this exciting for the Wii gamers out there. Woo!

All you need to do to get a video featured on the Viddler Blog and front page is send me a message about your video.

Online Video Fundamentals

Published January 25, 2009 by djsteen in Community Spotlight, Featured

Rob Sandie (subscribe) discusses personal brand and how you shouldn’t let any particular service mould your brand.

Your brand shouldn’t be known by the service it can be found on, but by your own personal design.

Invisible Ladies

Published January 23, 2009 by djsteen in Featured

First, I apologise for the poor quality of this video, but it’s the only one on Viddler with English subtitles. We all like English subtitles, right?

Nevertheless, content is king and you’ll chuckle at the response to people in this video that can’t see their reflection.

It’s still blooper/prank week here on the Viddler Blog and the Viddler home page. If you have a video that you think would entertain the Viddler Community, then don’t hesitate to send me a message and tell me all about it! :)

Break a Blooper

Published January 22, 2009 by djsteen in Featured

Here’s some dynamite bloopers from another webseries. The sitcom is called Break a Leg (subscribe) and was created by For Your Imagination, Inc, in 2008. I’ll let the creators describe what the show is about.

BREAK A LEG is the story of DAVID PENN, a writer who just got his first sitcom deal. GROOMMATES, his show about three ex-grooms living with their two ex-wives, replaces the previous hit, SWAMBLERS – a rollicking story of gambling cowboy swingers roughing it in the Wild West, Swambler-style. The writer/creator died – which is good news for David, because now he gets his own show.

You can find out more about the sitcom Break a Leg at its website, and watch the series there too!

Remember, this week is blooper/prank week on The Viddler Blog and front page. If you have a favorite blooper or prank on Viddler, be sure to let me know about it!
