Can you support service “X”?
While we can’t make any guarantees, let us know if you’d like to see a site added to the list.

Can this link to my site instead of Viddler?
If you change the <> of the video to where the video is located on your site, it will link to the listed permalink instead of to Viddler.com

Viddler Welcomes: Everyday Better

Published July 13, 2011 by Ian Borg in Community Spotlight

Viddler is thrilled to welcome Everyday Better to the Business Community. EVBE is using online video to promote good health and an active lifestyle. Learn how to properly exercise and get in better shape from a professional personal trainer while staying in the comfort of your own home. I recently had the pleasure of asking Amy Mac some questions on EVBE and its use of online video.

How did Everyday Better come together?

Every woman I know wakes up every day and says, “Today I’m going to be better – a better friend, wife, co-worker, mom, cook…” so that is when the concept of evbe was born. Everyone wants to improve their health but they don’t always know how to do it. Not everyone has hours to spend in the gym so we’ve created short, intense workouts that will help you increase your strength and cardiovascular health.

After years of doing my blog on WithAmyMac.com and video show, Fit Life, I convinced my producer that we should take a leap and create a new site containing a video encyclopedia of exercises and experts teaching people how to be healthy and lose weight.

What benefits have your clients been able to receive through the use of video that would not of been possible otherwise?

Video is the next best thing to teaching people in person and sometimes-even better because it can be available on demand! Demonstrating exercises, doing full workouts where they can follow along with a coach and even cooking can all be brought to the audience in a creative, timely and cost effective way.

What advice would you give to other businesses that are thinking about implementing video?

Video can be such a powerful tool for teaching, interacting and entertaining. It can supplement your content or it can be the main dish, just make sure it is accomplishes a goal. You also need to make sure you have decent audio, it isn’t that difficult or expensive anymore to create video of quality. Finally, you are never going to like the way you look or sound on camera so just take the plunge and learn from your mistakes!

What are the goals you set out to accomplish by creating EVBE?

The first goal is to show people how easy and affordable it can be to slim down and get in shape. Not everyone can afford a personal trainer, chef or nutritionist so we aim to bring those experts to EverydayBetter.com so you can take advantage of their knowledge and apply it to your own life. With hundreds of fitness videos and plans already on the site, evbe has started its journey to becoming a complete health and fitness network offering exercise, nutrition, cooking and more!

Viddler Mobile Video Support

Published July 11, 2011 by Ian Borg in Customer Support,Using Viddler

Viddler Business accounts support many of today’s mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, newer BlackBerry, and Android devices. This article will let you know just how easy it is to make all of your videos mobile.

Check Account Settings

By default, Business accounts have Mobile Device encoding support enabled. To make sure they are on, visit your Encoding settings.

If you’ve just turned these settings to “On” You will want to click the “Re-encode” button, which will make mobile-compatible versions of files that do not currently have them.

You may also want to head over to your Sharing & email settingsand change your default embed code. We recommend changing over to the “iframe” version, but if you need advanced features or your content management system has issues with iframes, you should choose “Flash with HTML5 Mobile Fallback”, note however, that this method doesn’t work on all devices.

Embedding

Embedding is just as easy as before. Just choose the proper embed code for your situation (iframe or “Flash with HTML5 Mobile Fallback”), and insert that code on to your site:

How to: Safely Upgrade to New AS3 Player

Published July 6, 2011 by Ian Borg in Customer Support,Using Viddler

Business clients have the ability to upgrade to our next generation of video player, which contains both new and enhancements of existing features.

Meet the New Player:

Full

Simple

Features of the New Player:

  • Completley Rewritten using ActionScript 3 – Makes the player more reliable
  • Improved Support for 3rd party Services—Including LiveRail and ComScore
  • The Ability to build your own player skins, or go chromeless
  • Backwards Compatibility – It’s not necessary to update your embed codes when you switch. All of your current embed codes will update to the new player
  • Risk-Free! For now, you are able to switch between the two player types

How to Upgrade:

Go to http://viddler.com/player-upgrade, and choose “Upgrade my players now!”, then click “Save Upgrade Choice” – It could take a few hours for the change to go through.

After Upgrade Checklist:

You may want to consider looking at the following things, just to make sure everything went as planned:

  • Check to confirm embedded players are loading – Check at least a few, and if you use multiple types of players (Full, simple) check at least one of each type.
  • Check player colors. Some upgraded configurations result in the player controls appearing hidden on mouse-over (depending on the background color)
  • If you do experience issues, please report it to our support team and/or feel free to downgrade using the same form you used to upgrade.
