First Person Arts National Story Competition

Published July 26, 2008 by Brandice in Announcements, Community Spotlight, Contests

Do you know about the First Person Impressions competition that’s running right now, with a video category that involves Viddler submissions?

It’s great opportunity for you use your Viddler skills to win prizes! Here are the details, straight from First Person Arts:

Each day countless stories unfold. Take a real life experience of your own and tell it in a way that only you can. Craft your story with words, photos or video. Make the ordinary magical, or the exotic familiar. Shock us, amaze us or make us pause to reflect. The only rule is that it’s real.

All entries must be new works that have not previously been published, exhibited or screened in the US.

Film: up to 5 minutes (upload privately to Viddler)
Essay: 1500 words or less
Photography: up to 5 images

The top three winning entries in each category will be presented at the First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art at the Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia, PA, November 12-16, 2008.

Monetary prizes for each category:
1st place – $500
2nd place – $100
3rd place – $50

Cost for entry is $10.

There are just a few weeks left in the competition and, according the Andrew at First Person Arts, they are still actively looking for more submissions, so your chances are still quite good. Go tell your story in a creative way, and see if it wins you some fame (and dough)!
