We’ve balanced our load problems

Published November 1, 2008 by Colin Devroe in Announcements

What does that mean exactly? It means that there is a lot of processing going on. We’re getting to the bottom of it to determine the direct cause and the quickest solution.

Yes, we’re popular. Well, really, you are popular. Which, in turn, makes our system buzz along loudly to serve the world with your videos. But we feel there is a bit more to it than that.

As of this moment… it is exceeding expectation. Because of this some of you are experiencing some downtime on Viddler.com, our embedded videos, and even third-party sites that are powered by Viddler.

We’re working hard on it.  Stay tuned here on the blog, or on Twitter, for updates.

Update: We’re back up. Still looking into the exact issue but we were able to recover pretty quickly.

Another update: It came to our attention that our front page had made it appear that we were having problems with load still. So, I have now changed the title of this post to help stop that problem. Thanks to all that wrote in!

    I’m willing to bet it’s all the NaNoWriMo participants jumping up and down on the server in excitement because November’s finally here!

    Update – We’re still working on implementing fully scaled solution and putting some temporary measures in place in the mean time.

    Thanks for your support and patience!

    @Claire – I bet it is NaNoWriMo :)
