HTML5 Beta Open

Published May 12, 2010 by Colin Devroe in Announcements,Using Viddler

As you may have read today on USAToday or read on our blog a few weeks ago, behind the scenes we have been working on HTML5 support.  Today it’s open for public beta for business and partner accounts and can convert account at viddler.com/html5.

This beta includes an additional iPhone/iPad encode as well as a non-javascript embed code that delivers flash first, HTML5 second. As far as we know this embed code is first of it’s kind on a video platform, which is one of the reasons why this is starting as a beta.

Check out video on this announcement (preferably on iPhone/iPad):

If you are looking to upgrade or signup for a business account to take immediate advantage of this, it’s a simple process you can take care of here. Just make sure to visit viddler.com/html5 after signing up. Thanks so much, look forward to your feedback!

Hi Michael – no, that requires javascript to do and not as embeddable on the different blogging and sharing platforms. We will be looking at this extension though over the next few months. We certainly want to innovate with HTML5 as well.

This update is pretty serious, man. This is going to be a real lifesaver for my company.

It must have been hard work but it is worth it. Viddler rocks!
