We’re hiring! Wanted: QA Engineer
Viddler is on the move and expanding! Our developers are making progress every day by squashing bugs, making enhancements to the service, and releasing new innovative features – but they need your help. We’re looking for a qualified Quality Assurance Engineer, or perhaps you’d prefer bug tester or feature request captain, either way we’re looking for someone to kick the tires and accurately document the findings.
Rob recently posted this to Craig’s List so let’s go over some of the responsibilities ( and since I had no idea what some of them mean, I decided to make them in plain ole’ english ):
Responsibilities
- Participate, develop, and execute test plans
- Help maintain a standard development methodology, including requirements, test plans, and quality criteria
- Help maintain defect tracking and test plan repository systems – We use Trac
- Assist with product specifications i.e. wish lists, future development, new ideas – which would mean documenting our Feature Requests from the forums
- Test all products on multiple OSes and browsers
- Monitor customer forums and respond as appropriate
- Manage day-to-day tasks productively without management direction – this is a biggie in Viddler!
- Learn new applications and new tools in support of testing efforts
- Coordinate Alpha or Beta trials for the product release
The last one essentially means that we’d like to find someone to have the “final say” when we’re ready to do version iterations. In the words of our President: “You will own this.”.

July 3, 2007 - 3:47 pmJESUSFRK & mfwit: We still appreciate your enthusiasm! Consider joining the Viddler Viral Team (be sure to sign up for the mailing list) to try to still help us out. Visit the forums often to help other fellow users if they have problems, or – clearly document any problems that you find with Viddler in our bug forums. All of these things can help Viddler out considerably.
And, who says that down the road all of you couldn’t be part of the Viddler team in some way? Hmm?
