ViddlerRSS - A WordPress plugin for Viddler

Posted in Announcements by Colin Devroe on May 25, 2007

One of the first tasks of the Viddler Viral Team was to create a simple way for Wordpress users to show their Viddler videos on their site using a plugin. I’m excited to announce the immediate availability of the ViddlerRSS Wordpress plugin (download .zip file).

ViddlerRSS was worked on my Viddler Josiah (josiah) and myself (cdevroe) and was derived from a version of FlickrRSS since this plugin already did most of what we wanted to accomplish.

Thanks to Josiah for his hard work on this plugin and to all of the Viddler Viral Team for what we’ve accomplished in just the first week. If you think you can help the Viddler Viral Team spread the word about Viddler through software plugins, graphics, blog posts, etc. - please be sure to check the wiki for details on how to get involved.

[…] So far we’ve accomplished many things. We’ve setup a wiki, a mailing list, a wordpress plugin, created some great graphics, and we’re not stopping there. If you think you have some ideas, a talent, or just a little time to help spread the word - please consider joining our Viddler Viral Team. We need you! […]

[…] User tag feeds are now available and browser discoverable. When we launched version 2 we aimed to have feeds available for just about every page and we’ve found that we had a few pages missing feeds. Global tag searches, and user tag searches, now have web feeds. So now you can subscribe to someone’s MeToday videos while not getting their other videos. Or, you can use the ViddlerRSS WordPress plugin to only syndicate your MeToday videos. All types of possibilities! […]

[…] If you start using Viddler regularly — either to create video blog entries as discussed in the previous article of this series or to simply get video content online — you might want to make those videos accessible from within your WordPress blog. Fortunately, there’s a WordPress plugin that makes this very easy: viddlerRSS. […]

This is great but I’d like to customize the size of the image and display multiple videos (most recent 5 or 10 or ones with a certain tag) in a thumbnail slideshow. Any chance of tweaking the plugin to accommodate this?

I love the widget, I’d love to have the video’s embedded in the widget, so people can watch from my site, just like youtube, and click over if they want.. I can code it probably, but I’d love the widget to do it.
    thanks

[…] This is pretty neat. Viddler templamatic has put together a Wordpress theme for Viddlers, on his site where he sells themes, utilizing our Wordpress plugin and ViddlerRSS (a quick and dirty plugin that aggregates any Viddler RSS feed into a Wordpress sidebar). […]
