Viddler smashes down the wall

Published January 10, 2007 by Colin Devroe in Announcements

As Steve Jobs said in his Keynote at Macworld yesterday; it isn’t very often in your life that you have the opportunity to be part of something really great. I can relate with Mr. Jobs as I’ve also had a few opportunities to work on really special things with great people and joining the Viddler team recently is no exception.

As a real quick introduction my name is Colin Devroe ( cdevroe here on Viddler ) and I’m joining Viddler to help give the user’s a voice to the developers as well as to help all of you get the most out of Viddler. How am I going to do this? With your help! And I’m going to need a ton of it.

Up until now the Viddler team has been working at a fever pitch to create bold, powerful, and simple tools to help you share your story online easier than ever before. Fantastic features like tags and comments in the timeline of your videos, as well as building one of the best uploading and encoding tools ever has indeed been very challenging for Viddler, but it has proved to be well worth the effort and we are continually refining these processes to make them even better. Viddler is devoted to creating the best possible experience and I think you will see this even more as some of the latest updates are completed and made public.

However there has been a vital piece missing. You. We need your input. We are asking that you let us know what you like, and do not like, about Viddler. We’re pushing towards a few really great updates of Viddler in the very near future and we’d like to know what you’d like to see most out of these updates. There is no longer a wall between Viddler and all of you. It has been smashed, broken down, and completely removed. We want you to be a huge part of everything we do here.

How can you participate? Leave a comment on this blog post. Send us a note if you have a question. Report a bug if you come across one or request a feature if you think you have a great idea. And don’t forget this is Viddler! You can use your own camera and record a video with questions, comments, or any feedback. We’re here, we’re listening, and we will respond!

There is much more in store for the future so please stay tuned. We’re planning and building some great new features, holding contests where you can actually win real prizes, and much much more. Can you tell we’re excited yet?

[...] After I got up-to-speed with all of their systems and got a feel for how Viddler wanted to start to bolster a really active community I wrote about how Viddler is going to smash down the wall between the team and Viddler’s users. And that is incredibly true. Viddler wants its users to become active, outspoken, and they will listen. [...]
