If you’re even the slightest bit interested the automobiles, then you’ve probably seen Gone in 60 Seconds. The one with Angelina and Nic — the remake. It’s a bit of a drool-fest. Sure, the actors are great, but the cars just make jaws drop. The most prized car in the movie is the 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 affectionately known as ‘Eleanor‘. No doubt, it would have to be the best car of its time.

Ford built the Shelby Mustangs from 1968 through 1970, and they were specially modified by Carroll Shelby’s company and sold under the name of Shelby GT with Shelby Cobra badges on the front and rear of the cars. For almost 40 years Mustangs continued to be made without Shelby GT models available. That is, until 2007 when the fifth-generation Ford Mustang was released and the Shelby high performance editions were revived.

While I personally would choose the design of the 1967 Shelby GT500 over the new models I still think they’ve done a pretty good job making these cars look sexy. Don’t be fooled though. They are pretty beastly!
