MVM: A Sureshot in Europe

Published March 9, 2009 by djsteen in Featured, Music Video Monday

European hip-hop, rap, and electro rarely makes it to the American and Australian music charts. This is due to many factors including the power of the record labels (money & previously heard artists), geographical distance from the creation of the music, and one’s taste in music.

The internet removes all those factors and makes it easy to discover new music from anywhere in the world.

Founder of record label Great Stuff Recordings (subscribe), Tomcraft, produced this track called “Sureshot” featuring famous German rapper Sido and Europe’s #1 hip-hop producer Tai Jason.

Are you awake now? You love Mondays! ;)

About the artists

Sido (real name: Paul Würdig) is a rapper from Germany whom distinguishes himself by using provocative and hostile lyrics, and is often seen wearing a silver skull mask (in the style of Ghostface Killah). This mask is seen the the video above and looks pretty darn spooky!

Tomcraft (real name: Thomas Brückner) is a German DJ and producer that specializes in progressive house and progressive trance beats. He began working as a DJ in Munich in 1994, and released his first track the following year. In 2002 Tomcraft released “Loneliness”, a progressive vocal track that eventually reached #1 in the UK. No doubt you’ve probably hear some of his music at some point in your life. Besides this featured video, of course.

Tai Jason went on a mission in 1998 to become the first hip-hop producer ??in Germany to produce dirty south crunk beats, even though he doesn’t seem like the typical dirty south crunk beat producer. His first track “AggroBerlinZeit” was a huge success and was accompanied by a high-budget music video. ?Besides his electro experiences with Tomcraft he has also worked with JCA — co-writer and producer of Danii Minogue’s biggest hit “I Begin To Wonder”.

If you ever find an awesome music video online, don’t forget to send me a link to it so that I may consider it for a Music Video Monday.
