We’ve past the half way mark of 2009 and I can’t believe I haven’t featured a Ukulele Underground episode. There have been many great episodes just this year let alone all the episodes they created during 2008. On June 20th they released their 50th episode.

For those of you that happened to miss Viddler’s great posts about Ukulele Underground in 2008 I’ll give you a quick rundown: Ukulele Underground (subscribe) is the coolest community based around ukulele lessons. As well as their long and short-form lessons, they feature weekly member videos, how-tos, and much more.

In Lesson 15 Aldrine Guerrero teaches how to play Weezer’s “Island In The Sun”. I love the tune of that song, and I’d love to learn it if I had a ukulele.

Doesn’t that look like so much fun! I’m completely musically untalented, yet I think I could pull that off after watching this video 3… 4… or maybe 7 times. It took me about two straight weeks of daily play to even pass a level in Guitar Hero. Yeah, I really have no rhythm.

For those of you that love a little DIY in your life you’ll love episode 50 that I mentioned before. Aldrine shows you how to make a ukulele wall hanger that can hold multiple ukuleles. I’ve embedded it below for your convenience.

I’m going to set myself a goal of learning Island In The Sun on the ukulele the first time I visit Hawaii (TBA). How about you?
