This is one of those communities as much about the offline experience as the online one. Riders from around the world collaborate projects and events online and then put them in to practice face-to-face. It has me giddy to see what the Australian mountain biking scene is like; I haven’t ridden my own mountain bike in several years and just browsing moredirt.com makes me want to go out and get a new bike as soon as possible.

Of course, when there’s a recreation like biking, then there’s awesome videos to be make. The video below features some fast riding on narrow trails, and you get to see it all from the rider’s POV. Rad!

The cool thing about it is that the waste byproduct has been thought about. You’ll notice when the bottle cap falls to the ground that it biodegrades almost instantly. Many people in the world carelessly litter packaging on to the ground. Technologies that can help with the recycling or biodegradable products will mean that littering will become less of an issue.

I hope that Coca-Cola implements product similar or the same as that shown in the video below. It will mean less resources required to create a discretionary want such as Coke.

This commercial definitely has some imaginative ideas. I don’t really like Coca-Cola, but they own various bottled water brands and if they’re thinking of ways to make Coke more environmentally friendly, then I assume the same will be done for all products they produce. That’s a good thing in my opinion!

If you follow rumors you may have seen the curved iMac which many geeks swoon over — it’s not likely that Apple will release a product like that any time soon though. So — just like all the tablets that were released at CES — there was an array of displays announced.

Dave at HotHardware (subscribe) had a look at a demo of Ostendo’s CRVD display (which resembles some of those curved iMac illustrations). In this video three of the displays are placed next to each other to simulate what someone would see while driving a real car (or playing some type of other roleplay game); it surrounds the gamer’s field of view completely.

It’s no question that we’ve seen some amazing video produced with the latest DSLR cameras such as the Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 7D, and Nikon D300. Single Lens Reflex cameras were originally intended to take still images, yet they do create stunning videos.

RED is a digital cinematography company that was founded in 1999, and launched its first modular video camera (RED One) back in 2007.

Engadget (subscribe) got hands on the the soon-to-be-released RED Scarlet — a smaller body (than the RED One) with a 2/3 sensor which is capable of shooting 3K (and 4K-6K in the future) video and RAW stills.

RED cameras are a cinematographer’s dream. Yes, I swooned. Though, I think I’ll probably get something in the range of a Canon 7D for now. RED cameras are much less expensive than traditional cinema cameras, but they’re still considerably more than a DSLR that records video.

Rumors about the heavily awaited Apple Tablet have resulted in many manufacturers launching their own tablets. Who knows if an Apple Tablet will be announced. If it isn’t, then there’s definitely more than enough choice out there thanks to announcements over the past couple of days leading up to CES.

One tablet that caught my eye — and the interest of many others — is the Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid. It’s a tablet and a netbook. How? Watch the video below; Jim Louderback (CEO of Revision 3) gets hands-on with the IdeaPad on an episode of Tekzilla (subscribe).

That’s darn nifty! And it’s only the first day! There’s lots more to come from CES 2010!

For this last MVM of 2009 I have a giddy treat from Anji Bee! I’ve been listening to Anji Bee’s Chillcast off and on since way back when it began in 2006. Anji curates great music for each show, and I highly recommend it in your weekly podcast listening.

In 2007, Anji started the Chillcast Video Edition (subscribe). These generally feature just one music video and there’s only 2 or 3 video episodes released every month.

Episode #036 features Adam Fielding — a UK-based electronic musician. Adam started writing music using free software on his computer in the mid-1990s. He was originally more interested in computer programming, but the more he dabbled in electronic music the more he enjoyed it and turned it from a hobby into a passion.

Adam has produced a wide range of genres since his early days. From soothing ambient sounds to go-get-em dance breaks — he’s has something for almost everyone. He has also collaborated with various other artists on cause-worthy albums such as Whirlstream (an electronic collaboration album organized by the Electronic Artists Relief Syndicate to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina).
