Licensing a track with Tunefruit … It’s simple

Published January 31, 2013 by Leslie Croft in Education & Support,Featured

By Mango / Tunefruit.com

Have you ever tried to license a track while the clock is ticking? It’s cray. Logins, passwords, getting the proper quote for your super-specific usage, endless legal speak and piles of red tape. That’s not how Tunefruit rolls. Man alive, we promise this site to be one of the easiest licensing and checkout procedures on the entire interwebs when it comes to music. And it should be easy, you know?

After you’ve found the right track for your video project, just click on the shopping cart in the bottom left (see picture below):

tf 1

When you’ve done that, you’ll see that the track has been added to your shopping cart. If you need multiple tracks, just wash, rinse and repeat.

Once satisfied with your selections, you can click the shopping cart up on the top of the page. And, boom, you’re transported to checkout (image below).

This is where things get stupid simple—you’re welcome!

Select the License Tier that makes sense for your project: Do you have a  personal cat video? That’s a Tier-1 kemosabe. How about a commercial Internet video? That’s a Tier-3. Then, bam! Click on the “Checkout with Paypal” button, fill out some info, and get whisked away to Paypal for payment (Tunefruit accepts Paypal or credit cards).

tf 2

After your purchase, you’re taken back to a download page on Tunefruit that has the track you just licensed. You receive a receipt and downloadable link via email. Tunefruit tries to make this a slightly more enjoyable task than doing your taxes!

We recognize just how important music is for your video projects. With that said, before we accept any new music, we listen to each track, approve what we think is appropriate, do all our Deep Tagging™, and make things easy for you to search for and license.

At Tunefruit, we believe that quality outweighs quantity. We reject tracks that aren’t up to snuff, which makes it easier for you to find the perfect tune, which helps you focus on making your video perfect. Don’t just sit there playing with blogs … go put some killer music on your killer video!

New to Viddler: The Ad Calculator

Published January 30, 2013 by Leslie Croft in Announcements,Using Viddler

At Viddler, we get a lot of inquiries from prospects and clients who are considering placing ads within their online videos. The motivation behind this … money, of course.

It’s only natural to ponder the potential income you can earn by placing an ad within your video. So, rather than calling on a mathematician (or the Viddler Sales Team) to perform the calculations, we have a savvy, little online calculator that will do it for you.

Visit the advertising page of Viddler.com. Scroll to the bottom to find the link to the ad calculator, and plug away!

Searching for the Right Video Soundtrack

Published January 24, 2013 by Leslie Croft in Education & Support,Featured

By Mango / Tunefruit.com

Finding the right soundtrack for your video can be painful. First, you have to go to Google and search for “royalty free music” or “music for video,” and then sift through the endless options of sites that pop up. Some are great, and some, not so much. Either way, you only want to know how to find the right piece of music for the right price. We get it. And because we play one on TV (a music licensing company, that is), we will show you how we handle searching for music on our website, www.tunefruit.com.

tf 1

Hey, hey, hey! Look at that … a big ol’ search button! Sweet. So, on Tunefruit, you have several choices for conducting a music search:

  • Type in a word (similar artist, time, feeling, place, thing, etc.) and hit “search”
  • Select a genre (style of music, for example, World, Electronic / Dance, Funk)
  • Inspect the Tunefruit Freshpicks for the “greatest hits” collection
  • Click on a popular tag

So, what’s the cool thing about our special search bar? We spend countless hours doing something we call Deep Tagging™ on each track. If you have no idea exactly what you’re looking for, but your video is about something like an enormous breakfast sandwich; just type in “bacon,” “breakfast” or “cup of joe.” You’ll get results that will actually work for your video. (Man, are we hungry. …)

Being specific with these searches is the key. Don’t just search for “action” when you want “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” And don’t just search for “pop” when you want “Katy Perry.” You’re a creative person, so be creative with your searches. The Tunefruit system is smart—like Siri smart. Try it; you’ll like it.

Once you choose your method of search, this screen will appear:

tf 2

This is the brass ring of Tunefruit’s simple search, folks. Now all you have to do is “mouse over” each track and a preview track immediately starts playing. Sweet! No need to click further unless you want to license or delve deeper into the track info. And this is what makes the process of searching for music a breeze!

Customer Spotlight: Edinet, an Italian Publishing Co.

Published January 21, 2013 by Leslie Croft in Community Spotlights,Featured

Throughout the world, news organizations are faced with a difficult task: to provide timely, compelling local stories minutes, or even seconds, before their competition.

Enter, Edinet: A publisher headquartered in the Genova region of northern Italy. The Web-driven company hosts several Italian-language sites, including Il Vostro Giornale (IVG) and Genova24, which incorporate short video into coverage of local news and sports. Edinet reaches an audience of around 260,000, and Web analytics estimate 20,000 unique visits to their site daily. Their traffic keeps growing, which has caught the eye of local advertisers.

Edinet’s needs are common to publishers everywhere … journalists need a way to easily modify and upload video content taken on their mobile or other consumer-level devices. According to Matteo Rainisio, Edinet’s founder and CEO, “Viddler is the most responsive, proactive vendor I have experienced in the 16 years I have been in this business. With most companies, if there is a problem, I have trouble reaching a live person. Viddler’s platform seldom gives us any trouble, but when there’s an issue, they call me—sometimes before I even know there’s a problem!”

Edinet’s business requirements are equally important. Their ability to generate click-throughs for both editorial and advertising content are essential to their profitability. Rainisio appreciates Viddler’s functionality, as well as how easily our video player can be customized, which gives him full control over advertising.

Says Rainisio, “When we made a change in our advertising system, Viddler’s technician discovered a potential problem on the video side, and fixed everything in days—not weeks.” Needless to say, those at Edinet eagerly await the next set of upgrades to Viddler that will provide a greater emphasis on mobile devices, helping the publisher get one step closer to becoming the leading source of local news and advertising.

Adding music to your video projects

Published January 17, 2013 by Leslie Croft in Education & Support,Featured

By Mango / Tunefruit.com

So, you’ve just knocked out that killer viral video; the company product presentation; or a thoughtful how-to style vid. Good work, young Padawan. You’re basically ready to put that bad boy up on the interwebs and call it a night … or are you? See, this is where things get interesting. Did you happen to add any music to that video? We’re not necessarily talking about featuring music, but rather incorporating a little bit of music as “underscore.” Music coupled with video—film—tape—whatever you want to call it—can be nothing short of transformative; it can support your brand identity.

The right music can help you elicit a specific emotion; place your viewers in a setting, time or place; and can help move along a narrative on screen. Do you have a quirky product or humorous message? The soundtrack can help you with that. Is it a fast-cut, crazy-action piece? The energy in the music can drive your edits. You should plan to use music as a helpful “glue” that keeps everyone’s focus on the screen. Just take the training scene from “Rocky” … mute it and then turn on Justin Beiber’s “Baby” track … You’ll know what we mean when you see it. The right music matters!

Nothing really beats a few real-world examples of businesses transforming their video content through the use of music (thanks to Tunefruit). Check out the videos below.
